Questions for the Week of May 7th

Hello Esperanza group! We hope you enjoyed the end of the book! Please don't forget to come to class on Wednesday with one idea on how you can create change in our world.

Mrs. B and Ms. Y

Here are your questions:

1. Alfonso and Miguel keep telling Esperanza that if is she does good work the farmers will keep employing her. Do you believe that philosophy applies in today's world? Why or why not?
2. Read the last sentence of the novel, and explain how it relates to the book's themes.

For the first question I think it still does apply in the real world because the harder you work you get promoted. For the 2nd question it relates to the book theam because Esperanza never gave up her hope. Her Hope Rising.

1.Yes, I do think it applies in the world today because, at my dads work he fired someone for not doing her work but, playing on the computer. Like, Myspace. I would not have someone working at my work if they were just working for acess for the computer.

I think that Alfonso and Miguel are correct. I think it is true in this world. I think that because if you do bad at your job you get fired. I think it relates a lot to the theme. The autor is almost exactly like Ezperanza. THE BOOK WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. I think this does apply to the real world, because if you are good at a job then you will get a more challenging one. This is, because your boss will want you to produce as much as possible to help the company.
2. It relates to the book theme, because Esperanza started a new life and soon regained her hope. I like the fact that esperanza means hope. It is really nice how the word hope is used in the book.

Hi everyone! Our books are now over but thy were really good!
I thonk that Miguel and Alfonso are right! It does also apply to the world today. If you are a good, hard, reliable worker, you will get promoted. But if you goof off, you will be fired, or have a small job. The last sentence relates to the theme because it shows how Esperanza has rose through the book. When her father died and their house burned, she had to sort of start her life over. Now Esperanza is very mature and not so snobby because she lived differently. Esperanza is now helping to run the family and give advice herself,"Never be afraid to start over."
Literature circles was really fun! I hope we do it in seventh grade!

1. It might be true today, but sometimes it's not because sometimes even if you do a good job at what you do, some people might not like you so your fired,
which i don't get.

2."Never be afraid to start over" is a great saying. It relates to the book because Esparanza practically started her whole life over, from the loss of her father and home, to being a much better and more grateful person. That explains why it is called Esparanza RISING, because she rises to be a kinder, warm-hearted humanbeing.
I thought it was a great book, if you couldn't already tell.

Hey people, how are you?

1) I think that if you do well at your work you will keep your job or get promoted because they do not want to get rid of a good worker. I also agree with lfk6 and bp6.

2) It relates to the books theme because the book was about never giving up, and always having hope. Also like bp6 said, Esperanza had everything, then lost everything, and at the end got what really mattered back: Esperanza maturing, the grandma coming home, and he mom getting better.

1} I think that it does apply in the world today because people who work harder get rewarded for it, but some people don't.

2} The last sentence relates to the book theme because throughout the book Esperanza is Risisng. Her life starts off very good and then gets bad, but she fights through it and never gives up.
